Klinik earns a place on flagship primary care technology framework

June 2, 2021

June 2021: England's GPs, primary care networks and integrated care systems can now more easily use AI triage technology to meet healthcare demand. Klinik has been named on the new NHS Digital First Online Consultation and Video Consultation (DFOCVC) framework.

The Klinik Access software is used in over 100 primary care centres in the UK. It blends AI-driven total triage with intelligent patient flow management tools to direct patients to the right type of care, whichever access route they choose.

Its customisable workflows, urgency indication and differential diagnostic support ensure the GP or other member of the primary care team sees the right patient at the right time. This is helping free up GP capacity, support more targeted resource planning, and provide a more satisfying patient experience.

NHS Digital's new DFOCVC framework establishes a single streamlined route for healthcare commissioners to buy nationally assured online consultation products. Klinik Access - already CE-marked technology and DCB0129 compliant - has undergone thorough review to be placed on the catalogue.

Klinik was developed by Finnish GP clinical engineers to enable primary care practices and networks to deliver cost effective high quality care. It uses clinically-supervised AI and configurable workflow technology to optimise resource allocation across primary care.

Klinik has expanded to five countries across Europe, and supports more than 2 million patients. Now in the UK for almost two years, it is working with primary care pioneers such as the Priory Medical Group, Haxby Group and Harrow Health GP Federation. Many other practices across the UK who are leveraging the latest technology to help them cope with new demand.

Its place on the DFOCVC framework means it can further build on its UK customer base, providing user-friendly technology that over 90% of patients and staff rate as good or excellent.

Ben Wood, UK director of sales and operations for Klinik, welcomed the award. "Forward thinking practices are seeing that AI and good patient flow are fundamental to the sustainability of general practice. Being on the DFOCVC framework further bolsters our credentials in this exciting marketplace, as we look to work with the country's leading primary care planners and practitioners."

"Now we know what the demand is, we can see what changes need to be made, and we can manage expectation and optimise the journey for every patient. We can assign the right level of resources to deal with the enquiry, and use the most expensive resource where it’s most effective."

Roxbourne Medical Centre
“Feedback from other practices using the system was very positive, especially how responsive the company was to people’s needs.”
Dr Michael Curran, GP partner

“For any other practice I would say this would make a valuable addition to the practice. In the current environment, it is becoming essential to have an efficient triage service that can assess risk and identify urgency, so that care can be given according to need, rather than demand. I would strongly recommend this to any GP practice.”
